Air fryer chicken wings are perfect every time. Toss them in a sweet and spicy wing sauce just before they finish cooking for mega flavor.

I love going out for wings. It’s really odd, when I was younger, I wouldn’t look twice at a chicken wing on a menu, but now I truly do love them. These Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Sweet and Spicy Wing Sauce are my new favorite way to take on wing night at home.

The idea of having wing night at home on a Friday is reeaaaaal appealing if you ask me. Cozy up in your favorite sweats and blanket in front of a pile of steaming hot wings. The problem is, wings don’t travel well so they don’t cut it for takeout, and frying makes a HUGE mess.
Insert air fryer. This appliance is magic. Honestly, when I first got the air fryer, I didn’t think I’d like it much because I don’t like fried foods. But, I love it for so many things…the most being chicken wings. And these salmon tacos.

How do you make air fryer chicken wings?
It is SO easy. All you do is lay wings in the bottom of the air fryer. The only important thing is to make sure they’re not touching so they get crispy on all side.
Cook them for a bit, toss them in sauce, and then finish in the air fryer again to get that crispy & sticky texture I love so much.

What’s in the sweet and spicy wing sauce?
The wing sauce is chili paste, sriracha, soy sauce or coconut aminos, and a bit of agave or honey! That’s IT! I like to reserve a little for extra dipping.
Pro tip – buy a big package of chicken wings, and freeze them into portions of 10-12 wings. Defrost when you need them and BOOM – easy & inexpensive wing night in a flash!

Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Sweet and Spicy Wing Sauce
Air fryer chicken wings are perfect every time. Toss them in a sweet and spicy wing sauce just before they finish cooking for mega flavor.
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook Time: 22 minutes
- Total Time: 27 minutes
- Yield: 2 1x
- Category: Sides
- Method: Air Fryer
- Cuisine: American
Ingredients
- 8–10 chicken wing pieces (or 4 full wings, cut in half, with the tips removed)
- 2 Tbsp. chili paste (I like this one, also called sambal oelek)
- 2 Tbsp. sriracha
- 1 tsp. soy sauce or coconut aminos
- 2 tsp. honey or agave
- Optional – green onion and sesame seeds for serving
Instructions
- If your wings aren’t already cut into pieces, simply slice through each knuckle with a sharp knife. Discard the wing tips and any hanging skin.*
- Lay the wings down in the tray of the air fryer. Make sure none of the wings are touching so the air can flow and reach all sides of the wings to get them crispy.
- Cook the wings at 360F for 18 minutes.
- While the wings cook, whisk together the chili paste, sriracha, soy sauce or coconut aminos, and agave.
- Remove the wings from the air fryer, toss them in 3/4 of the sauce (reserve the rest for dipping), and lay the wings back in the air fryer and cook for 5 more minutes.
- Remove, top with green onion and sesame, if desired. Serve hot and fresh!
Notes
- Set aside the wing tips, and save them to make stock or bone broth at another time. I keep mine in a freezer bag.
