Try this easy Traeger salmon recipe with a sweet and spicy glaze that’s seriously addicting. The fish gets kissed with smoke and the sweet heat from the glaze.

This year, J and I have been making a conscious effort to eat higher quality protein sources, and more fish + plant-based meals. When this Traeger salmon recipe with sweet & spicy glaze is on the menu, we devour every morsel.
Let me backtrack a bit because you might be like – wait – you guys eat plant-based meals & a lot of fish? I thought you were all about wild game? WE SO TOTALLY ARE. But, eating really high quality, free-range protein from the deer Jared harvests have made a huge impact on how we feel over the past year. So we love meals like this and these salmon tacos!
It really opened our eyes to eating quality protein sources, almost exclusively. We’re really wise with our grocery budget (I usually spend less than $150 per week and about $75+ of that is for blog recipes +clients) and obviously, organic wild-caught, grass-fed and free-range sources of meat/fish are pricer. We concentrate on eating the venison we have on hand and plant-based meals with legumes + nuts to cut costs. The rest of the protein budget is spent on the good stuff (and we’re able to find most of it at ALDI, FYI – this also cuts cost in a big way).
ANYWAY, now that I’ve done a deep dive into our grocery spending, I’ll get to the point. Quality protein, like salmon, is really good for you. Salmon also has a ton of omega 3’s, which I love, so we try to eat it every Monday!
It can get boring eating the same type of meat every week, so we like to spice things up – literally!

There’s nothing like salmon on the Traeger
Honestly, there’s nothing like anything on the Traeger or wood pellet grill. It’s DIVINE. But, I like to cook the salmon at 350F for 20-25 minutes, until it gets firm and the edges are somewhat crispy.
The Traeger locks in the moisture and kisses the fish with a slightly smokey flavor. Heaven. On. Earth.

What about that sweet & spicy sauce?
Ahh, yes. The sauce. It’s a simple mixture of sriracha, chili sauce (here’s the kind I use), agave or honey, fish sauce, and lime juice. It gets brushed over the salmon 10 minutes before it’s done & voila!
Try my salmon with lemon tahini sauce if you love salmon night, too!

thanks so much!!
This is a great recipe. The heat balances out sweet, and the fish sauce adds a great flavor – no, it’s not fishy for anyone who’s worried about fish sauce. I used Frank’s hot sauce in place of sriracha, and Trader Joe’s harissa paste in place of the chile sauce. Use 1 tsp of harissa, as TJ’s harissa as it’s VERY hot. I used recommended fish sauce quantity, but next time will add a bit more. Had to use the substitutions because that’s all I had on hand without a trip to the store. Yes, harissa and fish sauce are normally in my cupboards :).
